One of the oldest non-professional cricket leagues in England is celebrating ten years of consecutive sponsorship by Darlington Building Society.
President of the North Yorkshire and South Durham Cricket League, Ken Gardner is delighted with the sponsor's continued association and says their involvement in the game at a lower level encourages local interest.
"The league is fortunate indeed to have such an enduring relationship with its sponsor" he said.
"Darlington Building Society is very supportive of grass roots cricket in our region and consequently local interest in the sport is growing."
The league has a total of 25 teams which are based from Barnard Castle to Redcar and
Chief Executive of Darlington Building Society, Peter Rowley, admitted the sponsors are happy to be associated with the league.
"The Society is proud of its long association with the NYSD Cricket League,'' he said. "The standard of cricket is high and competition between teams is intense.
"Darlington Building Society is dedicated to looking after local interests and we believe this involves providing enthusiastic support for grass roots sport in our region.
"Our sponsorship of the NYSD Cricket League is evidence of that support."
