Hetton Lyons Sunday League
Consett surged to 198 at home to Felling who managed 95 in reply as Andrew Waters took five wickets for four runs and Dixon returned three for 31.
Batting first the Steelmen were in command and Mellons (66), Stewart (47) and Waters (38) enjoyed the good wicket and although Douglas took four for 38 runs Felling faced a formidable target which they never looked like achieving.
Gateshead Fell passed the 200 mark but still lost by six wickets to Whickham for whom Davidson finished unbeaten on 108 and Keith Walker contributed 41 to a total of 220 for four. Gateshead Fell's 219 for five came mainly from Richard Crabb (56), Paul McCarthy (34) and John Donkin.
The highest score of the day was recorded by Annfield Plain who raised a massive 256 for seven against Burnopfield. Graham Carr was in unstoppable form and he smashed 122 not out while John Newstead added 57. Lowery scored 36 but Burnopfield were all out for 132 as Temperley claimed three for 61.
Walkman and Manning both took three cheap wickets when Blaydon bowled out Lanchester for 87 before winning by seven wickets when Forrester scored 43 and Hetton Lyons had 15 runs to spare at Newcastle. Batting first Lyons totalled 162 with Colin Shanks making 58 and Bond 35. John Jameson was the best of Newcastle's bowlers with figures of four for 56 and although James Carr scored 73, Newcastle could only reach 147 for nine. Lawson was in good form with the ball for Hetton Lyons taking six of the nine wickets to fall for 35 runs.
Hubber (71) and Dixon (38) enabled Sacriston to total 168 even though McRay had four for 49 for South Shields who were pegged to 116 for nine mainly by the bowling of Swales with three for 36.
Spinks who returned six for 31 played a leading role when Boldon had Langley Park back in the pavilion with 87 runs on the board. Jackson remained unbeaten on 44 and Mackenzie scored 36 in Boldon's seven wickets victory.
Phil McCarrow with a well played innings of 42 was the top performer in Chester-le-Street's 119 for four against South Northumberland at Ropery Lane. The visitors were dismissed for 118 mainly by the bowling of Chris Woodcock with four for 13 and Robbie Ribchester (3-8) while for South North Gul top scored with 41.
Richardson was a half-century scorer, Brown added 37 and Moss 28 to Sedgefield's total of 212 away to Whitburn for whom Brown claimed four for 58.
In reply Sedgefield's bowler Brown had even better figures with six for 28 and Evans clinched three for 15 as Whitburn were bowled out for just 57.
Cameron Shield
Sacriston made the biggest score of the night when they posted 129 for five against Tantobie. Martin Hubber conceded his wicket for the first time this season at U15 level after he had made 21 runs but fortunately the good work was carried on by Peter Lawler whose unbeaten 59 included seven boundaries. Hunter had three for 31 from four overs for Tantobie who were then restricted to 59 for nine by the bowling of Andrew Dixon with two for ten, and Ian Nelson whose two wickets cost just six runs in two overs.
Richardson's unbeaten 78 was the highlight of Crookhall's 122 for one at home to Lanchester who responded with 102, including 45 not out by Ben Travis.
The Lintz batsmen also passed the three figure mark in totalling 118 for one. Stephen Smith rattled ten fours in 58 and Richard Foster had four boundaries in 40 out from a total of 118 for one before Blaydon were all out in 16 overs for 36.
Richard Foster completed a good night by capturing three wickets for 12 runs in five overs, Stephen Smith also bowled well in taking three for three from three overs and Richard Moody had two for ten in four overs.
Chris Morden top scored with 27 when Whickham reached 73 before Shotley Bridge were all out for 56. Nick Humphries took two for nine and Peter Tilley four for 12 in the Whickham attack.
Chris Holliday added 42 and Arran Leathley 22 to Annfield Plain's 100 for five but Consett won losing just three wickets when Ian Stewart produced an innings of 70.
Burnopfield had eight wickets to spare as they overtook Greenside's 56 for eight. Duggie Brown had a six and two fours in 21 for Burnopfield and when Greenside batted first their wickets were shared by Snowball, Lee Stoneman and Duggie Brown.
George Mann Cup
This year's competition organiser, Neil Morrallee, a GNVQ student at Wolsingham School was delighted to announce a three year sponsorship deal with Weardale Steel.
This is considered to be an appropriate deal as the Memorial Trophy, which is awarded to the final's Man of the Match, is named after Alan Mann who worked at the local steelworks for many years.
Shildon Timothy Hackworth were stretched to hold on to their unbeaten record when they batted first against Bishop Auckland King James and made 87. Longstaff made 23 not out with Andelin adding another valuable 17.
King James looked to be severely beaten when they crashed to 16 for 5 but a revival came from Rowley with 23 not out, Moore with 15 while Sawyer and Brown both had ten each. However the run rate had fallen just behind and the innings was completed just eight runs short of the target.
Eldon Lane Club batted first against Wolsingham Mill Race and were never seriously troubled by the bowling but were unable to get the ball away to speed up the scoring. Patterson did make 20 not out, Robinson and Paterson 18 each, McGowan 14 and Howe 11 as they reached 104 for 4 when the overs ran out.
The Mill Race made a good start with Hanlon making 18 and Ivil 12. After such a good start only Tindale managed to get into double figures with 14 and the team was dismissed for 85.
Weardale Steel had a field day when they batted first against an under strength Spennymoor Hillingdon. Steel raced to 140 with White on 23 and Muse, Dawson and Winter making 20 each. The Hillingdon were under pressure from the start and their innings ended on 60 with Elliott top scoring with 20.

Foster's North East Premier League Division Two
An unbeaten century by Neil Fox and 58 not out by club chairman Keith Symington paved the way for a big total by Norton II when they lined up against Norton III. The formidable score of 206 for two was achieved and when the Thirds replied they ended on 155 for six which included 57 by Chris Tait.
Geoff Bailey struck 59 of Stockton's 179 for five in the home match with Tynemouth who ended with 147 for seven and this match also finished in a draw. Tony Lione, demoted from the Tynemouth first team, showed form by scoring an unbeaten 95.
One time Philadelphia first team captain, Jim Mathewson, added 59 to his team's match winning 162 for eight at Benwell Hill. Gateshead Fell had the edge over Sunderland, winning a low scoring game by seven wickets after they had restricted their opponents to 94.
Blaydon - in their first season in the top flight -are also enjoying a good start but they failed by two runs to overtake Newcastle's 184 for eight. Keith Porter (33) and Shaun Collins (64) led Newcastle to an impressive 184 for eight and responding Blaydon concluded their overs with 183 for nine on the board.
Chris Stephenson carried his bat for 39 and Derek King made 47 while for Newcastle Paul Jacques had figures of four for 55
