Urlay Nook scored an impressive 171 to 122 victory over new comers Marne CC. Veteran Peter Masters top scored a 19 for Marne, while Paul Dowson scored a 24 for the league leaders.

Welbury scraped a home victory over Fox Hall 156 to 155 while the highest score of the night was from the Foxes' Trevor Salmon. S Rudsdale and Mrs J Griffiths scored 21's for Welbury.

Thimbley climbed to third in the league with a comfortable home victory over Stokesley 178 to 171. The Thimbles' big scorers were WJD Brown, D Thackray and R Spence with 23's while Ray Wallace scored similarly for Stokesley.

The first draw of the league season took place at South Durham North Yorkshire where Great Smeaton were the visitors and scores were tied on 173. J Garside scored perfectly for the home team, while Gordon Carvey matched Mr Garside's achievement for Smeaton.

Spennymoor scored a handsome 187 to 164 victory over Oak Lodge with K Alderson scoring 25 from 25 for the Moors, while M Brown scored a near perfect 24 for the Oaks.
