League U15
Hunwick made the biggest score of the night when they reached 115 for five at home to Ushaw Moor. Most of the runs came from Ashley Coveney who carried his bat for 78 and when Ushaw Moor replied they were restricted to 74 for six by Chris Pratt who captured four for ten.
Mainsforth and Bishop Auckland both passed three figures when they played their game at Kingsway. Bishop Auckland won by eight wickets overtaking Mainsforth's 104 for five when John Russell finished undefeated on 67. Sweeney top performed in Mainsforth's inning scoring 64 while for Bishop Auckland returned three for 22 and David Atkinson two for 28.
McMahon was in good all round form for Evenwood who defeated Willington by 22 runs. Batting first the visitors totalled 84 of which McMahon contributed 35 and when he claimed three wickets for 13 runs Willington were back in the pavilion with 52 runs on the board.
Etherley faired marginally better when they totalled 69 at Crook Town for whom Chris Guy took three for 16 while Michael Fawcett, Trevor Prest and Stuart Carr all captured two wickets. Crook Town won losing five wickets when Prest remained undefeated on 44 while for Etherley Lyall and Dalton both took a couple of wickets.
Tudhoe were all out for 33 and lost by ten wickets to Langley Park for whom in-form batsman John Lee carried his bat for 30 in a total of 35 for none. Andrew Green with three for two and David Jones (3-9) were the bowlers who troubled Tudhoe.
Esh Winning romped to a nine wickets success when they entertained Brandon. The visitors managed 43 for seven as Chris Hurst, Paul Huggins and Jonathan Lanagan all returned two wickets.
3D Durham County
League U18
Langley Park produced a good performance beating Brandon by 15 runs. The home side fielded first and Langley posted 92 for nine which included 24 by Andy Green and 21 from John Lee. Steve Tomkins sent down five overs in the Brandon attacked and returned three for nine while Peter Johnson had three for 22, also in a five overs spell.
When they replied Brandon could only manage 77 for eight which included 21 by Steve Tomkins who struck three boundaries. Peter Caulfield bowled a good line and length for Langley Park and in five overs had creditable figures of three for 18.
After Esh Winning had scored 87 for eight Bishop Auckland replied with 82 for seven while Newton Aycliffe were all out for 24 and Etherley went on to win by eight wickets.
At Evenwood the home team totalled 74 for five which included 22 by Kevin Watson, 19 from Christopher Gill and 18 from Tony McMahon.
When Darlington RA replied the top contribution was extras on 21 and when Christopher Howe took two for 13 from five overs and Kevin Watson conceded just five runs in as many overs, RA finished 62 runs behind the Evenwood total.
In the Bob Hay U18 Cup Langley Park progressed at the expense of Mainsforth. Batting first Langley totalled 95 for four with Michael White making 37 and Andrew Green 22 while for Mainsforth Thompson had four for 27 from five overs.
Mainsforth then went into bat but were always behind the clock and managed 57 which included 21 by Hardwick. Best of the ten bowlers used in Langley's attack was Gregg Coates with three for three.
Foster's Tyneside
Junior League
APlain enjoyed a 38 runs victory when they hosted Shotley Bridge after Graham Carr scored a superb 88 and David Newstead ended unbeaten on 61.
The Plain totalled 139 for two then restricted Shotley Bridge to 101 for nine which included 25 by David Ringer while the 21 from Crinnion was the most successful of the several bowlers used by the home side and he picked up two wickets for 20 runs.
In contrast, runs were at a premium when Greenside entertained Whickham. The home side were back in the pavilion with 48 runs on the board as Cree claimed three for seven, Gray took four for nine and Hughes had two for 17. Responding Whickham won by five wickets as Chris Davidson scored 32 of his side's 49 for five. Tom Morley bowled a good end for Greenside and in four overs returned figures of three for 19 while Michael Cairns had two for 21 in five overs.
Sacriston easily defeated Chopwell by seven wickets and Burnopfield had 17 runs to spare following a high scoring contest with Swalwell.
Batting first Burnopfield totalled 127 for six which included 28 by Kevin Roxburgh and 24 not out from Aaron Robertson. Peter Scott claimed four of the six wickets to fall for 24 runs and when they batted Swalwell finished on 110 of which Gray contributed 35 and Jones 37. Justin Temperley took four wickets for seven runs and Michael Finlaw had figures of two for nothing in the Burnopfield attack.
In other matches Ryton inflicted a seven wickets defeat on Blaydon who they reduced to 56 for eight and Crookhall just edged Lanchester by three runs after reaching 83 for four.
Durham Senior League U17
Chester-le-Street had 37 runs to spare defeating Burnmoor at Ropery Lane. Stephen Lee Merrington top scored with 35 and Daniel Shurben contributed 34 with Anderson taking two for 22 and Ahan claiming three for 21 for Burnmoor who then managed 69 for eight.
Fullerton (23) and Embleton (21no) were the main scorers for Burnmoor while for the Cestrians Tom Atkinson had two for nine and Merrington two for 14.
Craig Harrison's unbeaten 34 featured in Felling's eight wickets victory at home to Seaham Harbour who were all out for 67 when Paul Leonard had four for ten and Mark Vinton three for 13.
Gateshead Fell made the highest score of the night, 125 and Graham Onions was the leading run-maker with an undefeated 78. Nathan Gray added 29 not out and replying South Shields were pegged to 84 for three which included 31 by David Maughan.
At Horden Hetton Lyons managed 71 and Ian Blevins had four for eight and John Atkinson two for 24. In reply Horden won by five wickets and John Atkinson top scored with 18 while for Hetton Lyons Jarvis captured three wickets for 17 runs.
Eppleton overtook Whitburn's 85 for seven with four wickets to spare. Hunter top scored with 23 and for Whitburn Brown had three for 25. Earlier Marley was top marksman with 29 for Whitburn and Hunter claimed three for 28 in the Eppleton attack.
In the George Peacock Memorial Trophy Gateshead Fell progressed at the expense of Whitburn. The visitors totalled 70 for eight as Graham Onions took two for 15, Phil Taylor had identical figures and Phil Hudson captured three for 14. Onions then led Gateshead Fell to victory by scoring 30.
Durham Senior League U15
The runs flowed when Philadelphia entertained Sunderland. When the Askbrooke side batted first they reached 108 for three as Rushworth batted an excellent innings of 63. William Orchin with two for 13 from five overs and Tony Price who took the other wicket for 17 runs also in a five overs spell shared the three Sunderland wickets to fall. Replying Philadelphia were in with a chance as Scott Logan carried his bat for 46 but the next highest score was only 16 by William Orchin and Rushworth, Mills, Applegarth and Nelson all claimed one wicket in the Sunderland attack.
Another good innings by Saikat Sarkar who ended unbeaten on 31 steered South Shields to a ten wickets victory at home to Whitburn at Wood Terrace.
After scoring 111 for five Boldon were beaten by nine wickets when they visited the Welfare Ground. Carl Watson (44) and Tony Murphy (45) led the Horden innings with Mark Turner taking two for four from five overs and Stephen Gamble two for 32 also in a five overs spell. Replying Boldon surged to victory when Mark Turner struck 46 and Richie Potter carried his bat for 42.
In the other match Gateshead Fell reduced Burnmoor to 49 for five before going on to win by nine wickets.
