PRIMARY school pupils were given an insight into the art of making stained glass windows by a local expert.
Children from Appleton Wiske Primary School, near Northallerton, met Ann Sotheran at St Oswald's Church, West Rounton, where she is working on a millennium window.
Teacher Catherine Cadogan said: "It's a local project and it was lovely to see how real stained glass was made, because the ones we made at school were done with paper and cellophane. She explained the whole technique of stained glass making."
The church's new window will depict Lindisfarne and St Oswald protecting the village church and bringing Christianity to the area.
Ann Sotheran is familar with North Yorkshire, having created the stained glass windows at the World of James Herriot centre in Thirsk.
