AN EAST Durham school has been given a glowing report following a government inspection.
Acre Rigg Junior School in Peterlee was found to be "very effective" and a place where children enjoyed learning.
An Ofsted inspection carried out earlier this year found that teaching in the school was very good and that all groups of pupils were making good progress.
The young pupils at Acre Rigg were, said the report, enthusiastic, well behaved and keen to learn.
It added: "The strong leadership provided by the senior management team results in positive attitudes all round, and excellent relationships between the staff, pupils and parents.''
It added that parents also viewed the school as effective where pupils are expected to work hard. Since its last inspection in 1996 more pupils are gaining better results in English, maths and science.
The only key issue raised by Ofsted was the school was lacking in information communication technology provision, a situation which is expected to be reversed by the beginning of autumn term.
Headteacher Peter Todd said: "I am very proud of the staff and the pupils who have worked so hard to achieve this glowing Ofsted report."
