A PRIEST is hoping to set up a project in Teesside to help young offenders after they are released into the community.
Father Patrick Cope, of the Bishops Conference Young Offenders' Project, is looking for volunteers to train as mentors for those in young offenders' institutes.
The One to One project is already running in London, Birmingham and Newcastle and Father Cope hopes to establish a new base in Middlesbrough.
Volunteers would be required to visit a young person every two weeks and keep in touch with them once they are released.
Full training and supervision is provided to volunteers on the scheme.
An information evening is being held for anyone who would like to find out more about One to One.
The event at the John Paul Centre in Grange Road, Middlesbrough, will take plaxce on Tuesday, July 11, from 7.30pm until 9pm.
