GARDENS in a County Durham village will be open to the public tomorrow in support of a number of charities.
A total of 16 gardens in Gainford, near Darlington, will be open from 2pm to 6pm in aid of the National Gardens Scheme.
The scheme supports a variety of nursing, hospice, gardening and cancer charities.
Open gardens in the village include four on High Row, two on the Green, and others in Station Court, Eden Park, Academy Gardens and Balmer Hill.
And entrance fee of £2.50 covers all gardens and teas will be served on the green.
Eirenice Gore-Booth, whose High Row garden is on show, will hold a selling exhibition of her floral paintings with fellow Gainford artist Denise Macgregor.
On the same day, Darlington Embroiderers' Guild will be holding an exhibition in St Mary's Church, entitled Changing Styles. A service of songs of praise will be held in the church at 6pm
