Boddingtons Durham Coast League U15

Dawdon romped to a ten wickets victory when they hosted Bill Quay who managed 61 for two which included a top scoring 26 not out by Phillips. Matthew Young then led Dawdon's reply recording an unbeaten 33 in a total of 64 without loss.

Graham Hodgson with three for seven, David Scorer (2-7) and James Watson (2-5) bowled out South Hetton for 46 before Murton went on to win by four wickets.

Runs were more plentiful at Castle Eden who had just two to spare against Hylton. John Spellman (45no) and Richard Ede (39) enabled Castle Eden to total 106 for six while for Hylton Allen and Holder both took two wickets.

In response Hylton were always in with a winning chance when Foster scored 26 and Martin ended with 27 not out, but two for 12 by Stephen Hart swung the game the home side's way.

Michael McGhinn, with three for nine and Adam Graham whose three wickets cost 21 runs, bowled out Peterlee for 64 but Seaham Park faired much more badly when they responded and were just 35 for seven. Docherty bowled well in the Peterlee attack claiming three for 18 and Wilson also showed promise with two for 13.

At Houghton the home side won by just 14 runs when they entertained Easington. Gavin Snowball was the top scorer with 35 and Carl White added 21 to a total of 92 while for Easington Paul Jordison took two wickets for ten runs.

Marsden romped to 153 for one against Silksworth with Quinn (61no) and Mills an unbeaten 60. In reply Silksworth could only make 101 for eight which included 42 by Merrington and for Marsden Collins captured four for 31 runs.

Boddingtons Durham Coast League U18s

John Chamberlain took a hat-trick in four for ten when Bill Quay defeated Ryhope by nine wickets. Chamberlain then struck an unbeaten 28 in Bill Quay's response of 58 for one.

Peterlee had the better of Castle Eden by six wickets. The visitors, batting first, ended with 92 for seven which included 32 by Richard Ede and 20 from John Spellman while for Peterlee Neil Casey had three for 16 and Paul Griffiths two for six.

Peterlee then won for the loss of four wickets as John Auton contributed 34, Chris Ford added 21 and youngster Daniel Crawford carried his bat for 19. Pick of the Castle Eden bowlers was Matthew Tudball who took two of the four wickets to go down for eight runs.

Dawdon overtook Hylton's 83 for five with five wickets to spare thanks mainly to Chris Price who top scored with 24. Andrew Martin had two for 12 for Hylton who batting first finished with 83 for five including 48 by Ben Clark. Akhtar and White had identical figures of two for 13 for Dawdon.

In the Alf Armes Cup Seaham Park progressed at the expense of neighbours Dawdon, winning the first round tie by seven runs.

Andrew Docherty (30) and David Morton (16) led Seaham Park to 80 for seven while for Dawdon Jamie Greenwood, Ryan Consitt, Graeme McBeth and Stephen Gale shared the wickets.

Although Jamie Greenwood then top scored with 24 Dawdon were restricted to 73 for seven chasing Seaham Park's 80 for seven. Morton, Akhtar, Docherty, McGhinn and Singh were all among the wickets for Seaham Park.

Durham Senior League

Former first team players were in form when Philadelphia met Boldon at Bunker Hill in Division Three. Ken Haswell, who at one time captained the senior side, scored 34 and Colin Hayes contributed 35 to Philadelphia's total of 130.

Hayes then claimed three wickets for 13 and David Carr, another ex-first team player, took three for 27 with his medium pace as Boldon ended on 127 for eight, leaving Philadelphia winners by the narrow margin of three runs.

Chester-le-Street had six wickets in hand when they visited Gateshead Fell. Harry Smith's men are on course for the title and they took maximum points when they overtook Gateshead Fell's total of 96 for eight, thanks to Paul Berryman who finished undefeated on 65. Earlier Donkin had scored 30 runs for the Phil and Laverick took four wickets for 23 runs in Cestrians' attack.

After restricting Durham City to 82 for six Eppleton won, losing seven wickets, four of them to Maddox for 25 runs.

There was a high scoring game when Sunderland had the better of Seaham Harbour by 25 runs. Needing 130 Seaham finished with 104 for seven including 35 not out by Coates. Ferguson had three for 19, Smith two for 28 and McOwat two for 18 in the Sunderland attack.

When the visitors made first use of the wicket they reached 129 for five of which Fenwick contributed 64 not out while Seaham Harbour's Alan Curtis returned two for 28 and Hardy two for 54.

Only nine points separate South Shields from Whitby following a high scoring contest. Fred Dixon led the way with 36 and Binns added 32 when Shields totalled 142 for five. Marshall scored 65 but Whitburn were restricted to 133 for four when they replied.

Darlington Building Society NYSD League

Blackhall had 87 runs to spare as they defeated Great Ayton in Division Two. Spence (48) and Moss (45) played the leading roles in Blackhall's total of 180 for nine despite Dale taking three for 38 and Thirlow three for 23 for Great Ayton, who were reduced to 93 when Sergeant claimed four wickets for 38 runs and Bell took four for 15 runs.

Hogday top performed with 39 in Normanby Hall's 141 for six but visitors Preston won comfortably by nine wickets while Richmondshire just had the edge of Thornaby following a high scoring game.

Batting first, Richmondshire ended on 213 for six with runs down the order from Stead senior (39), A Dade (44) and D Dade (42).

Responding, Thornaby finished with 202 thanks to half centuries by Allan and Sexton while for Richmondshire Platt and A Dade both took four wickets.

In Sunday's programme Normanby Hall lost by nine wickets when they hosted Bedale for whom Brown scored 73 and Carruthers 55. G Robinson top performed with 54 in Normanby Hall's 169 for nine and for Bedale Staithes had five for 56 and Clapham three for 37.

Alan Cunningham scored a magnificent unbeaten 112 and Andy Wetherill contributed a half century to Redcar's 219 for five. Great Ayton were all out for 97 as Steve Hassack captured five for 43 and Jason Robinson three for 30.

At Wolviston, Blackhall went down by five wickets after scoring 186 for eight. Terry Rawlings was Wolviston's match-winner with the bat scoring 72.

Gary Sexton bowled 14 overs and returned figures of six for 31 when Thornaby bowled out Nunthorpe for 100. Robin Bailey's 42 was an important contribution to Thornaby's match-winning 103 for five.

In Division Three Guisborough declared on 223 for nine at home to Northallerton when Chris Weatherhead scored 89 and Anthony Parsons 55. Despite 53 by R Cowton and 54 from C Cowton, Northallerton managed just 160 for nine. Hartlepool defeated Middlesbrough by seven wickets when Danny Shermar finished undefeated on 57 after Peter Robinson had helped to bowl out Middlesbrough for 137 by taking seven wickets for 57 runs.

Brian Weatherill was again in good form in the Seaton Carew attack capturing five for 30 when Yarm were all out for 124 which included 29 by Chris Mozley. Seaton Carew fared a lot worse however, and were back in the pavilion with 75 runs on the board as Andy Smith and John Towell both took five cheap wickets.

Smith, with an unbeaten 103 and Readman (65), propelled Redcar to 246 for four at Marske who responded with 162 for seven of which Chris Gibbin made 74 not out. Readman completed a good day by taking four wickets for 27 runs in the Redcar attack.

Close (31) and Dent (41) led Barnard Castle to victory at Saltburn who were all out in 34.4 overs which was 70 runs short of the visitor's total. McCullough scored 51 of Saltburn's 97.

Darlington had the better of Yarm in the Division Four game winning by five wickets when Colin Biglin recorded 14 boundaries in 71 not out. Matthew Morgans had taken four for eight in nine overs when Yarm totalled 106 from 46.2 overs.

A useful 32 by Singh enabled Darlington RA to reach 90 but Thornaby won by five wickets when Humphreys carried his bat for 36.

Chris Simpton scored 63 and Steve Clark 75 not out in Marton's 194 for five before Richmonshire replied with 152 for nine while Wolviston defeated Nunthorpe by six wickets. David Rogers made a useful 36 in Nunthorpe's 150.

Hipkiss (46), Green (41) and Emmerson (30) enabled Darlington RA to total 184 and responding Preston went close with 182 while Darlington defeated Seaton Carew when Osborne claimed seven wickets for 46 runs.
