NEWCASTLE United star Kieron Dyer claimed he was the target of vicious gossip yesterday after reports he had been glassed in a nightclub brawl.
The up-an-coming England midfielder was reported to have needed five stitches around an eye after a night out in Ipswich ended in bloodshed.
This followed reports about Dyer's alleged antics during a holiday in Cyprus.
Yesterday, speaking from his mother's home in Ipswich, the £6m midfielder said: "People are determined to label me as a trouble-maker and start rumours about my off-field behaviour. My family shouldn't have to deal with this. I don't even know where most of these stories have come from, particularly the one about a fight in a nightclub. It is total rubbish there was no glassing."
