A FEATURE film made in the North-East has undergone a change of title before reaching cinemas. Dancer, shot in and around Easington last year, is now called Billy Elliot - after the leading character, a teenage boy who secretly trains to join a ballet school.
The title has been changed since the film - which stars 14-year-old Jamie Bell, from Billingham - was premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last month.
Originally it was altered to Raising Billy Elliot, then changed again to just Billy Elliot to put the focus firmly on the main character. The film, being tipped as a hit on the scale of The Full Monty, is due for release at the end of September
