A BUSINESSMAN whose three consultancy firms were wound up with debts of more than £90,000, has been banned from being a company director for six years.
Julian Herbert Thomas Hale, 53, ran the three companies from his home in Junction Road, Norton, Teesside, selling consultancy services to the oil industry.
All three companies were wound up following the presentation of petitions by HM Customs and Excise.
Felgate Engineering Ltd was wound up in May 1995 owing creditors £54,160, while Man Engineering Ltd and Newland Communications Ltd were wound up in October 1998 with deficiencies of £17,623 and £10,023 respectively.
The disqualification order was imposed at Darlington County Court on Monday.
The court found that Mr Hale had financed the continued trading of all three companies by retaining money owed to the Crown in VAT, PAYE, national insurance contributions and corporation tax.
He also acted contrary to his duties by withdrawing loans from Felgate and Newland which were not repaid, and had failed to file necessary documentation with the Registrar of Companies.
