CHILDREN in Teesdale are getting set for an art project based on glass and ceramics.
Pupils at Montalbo Primary School, in Barnard Castle, will taking part in a workshop at the school on July 3, which will see them creating their own designs from glass and ceramics.
They will be working with professional glass artist Effie Burns, who has several designs on show in the Breaking Away glass and ceramics exhibition currently touring Teesdale.
Denise Alexander, project co-ordinator for Designed for the Dales, which brings contemporary craft to Teesdale, said : "The point of organising the workshop is to encourage the pupils to get their hands dirty and to have a go themselves.
"We want to encourage them to get more involved in the making process. They will learn a great deal about designing and working with glass, but will also have a lot of fun."
The exhibition, which also features the work of students from the Glass, Architectural Glass and Ceramics programme running at the University of Sunderland, can be seen at Hamsterley Village Hall on July 6 and 7, and at Stanhope Town Hall on July 14 and 15.
The exhibitions open at 11am.
