ORGANISERS of a Teesdale farmers' market are looking to the heavens and praying for dry weather after last month's event was blighted by torrential rain.
Farmers from Teesdale gathered in Barnard Castle at the start of June to sell a variety of goods to visitors from around the region.
Despite the weather, stallholders enjoyed record takings and organisers believe the monthly event could be an even greater success with the help of dry weather.
This is the first year the farmers' markets have been running regularly in Barnard Castle, with bumper sales anticipated during the summer sessions.
Dozens of farmers in Teesdale have turned to the monthly market to supplement their incomes during lean times for agriculture.
Markets co-ordinator John Constable said: "We need all the help we can get, including a bit of support from the weather."
The markets are held on the first Saturday of every month, with two planned for the run up to Christmas.
They feature a wide variety of fresh produce, including beef, cheese, butter and vegetables.
The next farmers' market in Barnard Castle will be held on Saturday, in the market place.
