A MAN in a car with false registration plates drove away from three filling stations without paying for petrol, a court was told.
Gareth Craig, 20, claimed that he was provided with the car by two men he would not name, said defence solicitor James Watson. Craig, of Ingram Road, Middlesbrough, pleaded guilty to three theft charges of petrol in Redcar, Billingham and Stockton last month and on June 1.
He was given a 12 months conditional discharge by Teesside magistrates who ordered him to pay £118 compensation.
