Nicholas Walker, aged four, has decided to put his newly acquired knowledge of recycling to the test to help a summer fete.
The youngster, who attends Darlington's Corporation Road Nursery, decided to adapt what he learned at the group and donated his unwanted toys to the event.
They will be sold at the Friends of Darlington Memorial Hospital's summer fete, being held on Saturday, from 1pm.
There will be a host of stalls on the hospital grounds, keep fit, a tea tent, Haughton School choir, dancers and more.
Entry will cost 50p and children under 16 will go free when accompanied by an adult.
Coinciding with the fete will be a sponsored abseil down the side of the hospital on behalf of the Friends group, and to raise money for St Teresa's Hospice in Darlington.
