Richard King of Ferryhill Wheelers recorded a personal best to win the VC 167 Cycling Club Open 10 Mile Time Trial.
The event, sponsored by MTS Cycles of Durham, was held on a testing course at Bishopton which included three short climbs.
A wet day gave way to a warm calm evening which made ideal conditions for the 67 cyclists.
The early leader was Ian Stokoe of Ferryhill Wheelers who posted a time of 23 minutes and 13 seconds which held until his time was beaten by clubmate King who finished in 22 minutes and 55 seconds.
King had to wait to see if his sub 23 minute time was good enough to win until the last man to start, and previous winner, Steve Fullerton finished.
He recorded a time of 23 minutes six seconds to take him into the runners-up position behind King.
This was Kings first Open Time Trial win following a successful start to his road racing season.
With King and Stokoe finishing in the first three it ensured a win in the team section for Ferryhill Wheelers.
