Middleton St. George are to have their own youth team for the first time in a number of years
It is the idea of Darlington businessman, Graham Clark who has enlisted the help of MSG Cricket Club for the use of their facilities.
Mr Clark lives in the village and says that facilities for the youth are very limited and feels that steps had to be taken to occupy the ever-increasing population.
The venture has been started from scratch and a brand new pitch is in the process of being developed while all training and playing equipment has been ordered.
The development of the youth football club, which will play at under 14 level, is a costly venture although Mr Clark will be the main sponsor and they have received favourable replies in their plea for further sponsorship from Darlington business.
The local community also appreciate the new football team with the Low Dinsdale Parish Council making a cash donation towards equipment.
It is hoped the club will eventually encompass more age groups. The one thing is guaranteed is that the facilities will be second to none and the players have top notch equipment and the use of their own ground.
The club is holding their first training session at MSG Cricket Club at 10.00 am tomorrow
All players from either in or out of the village, under 14 years of age, are welcome and parental involvement is welcome.
The children will be competing in the Richmondshire League which will be commencing on September 10.
l A total of 24 junior teams are wanted for seven-a-side Saturday leagues at the Chester-le-Street pavilion centre for players between 12 and 14 and 14 and 16. Two teams are also required for the Seven-a-Side League for players over 16 at the same venue. All enquiries should be made to secretary David Munneke on 0191-370-2596 or 0191-417-4700.
