A thug with a 15-year history of assaulting police was jailed again yesterday for attacking a detective.
David Peacock, 42, was a passerby when he punched and kicked Detective Constable John Foreman, who was checking the occupants of a car in Peterlee, County Durham.
His record for attacks on the town's officers stretches back to 1984, Teesside Crown Court heard.
Peacock of Harvey Close, Peterlee, was jailed for two years and nine months after a jury found him guilty of unlawful wounding in the November 14 attack.
Judge Peter Bowers told Peacock, who claimed he was unaware Foreman was a policeman: "You have got a long an unhappy record of brushes with the police in Peterlee. I have no doubt that you did know who Det Cons Foreman was and that you took the opportunity to wreak on him your feelings of dislike."
