A YOUNG offenders' institute is teaming up with the Royal Air Force Association for a special celebration.
HMYOI Deerbolt, near Barnard Castle, holds its annual aviation day on the first Wednesday of July each year, with the association's Durham branch.
Five years ago, Lord Barnard officially unveiled a memorial stone in the grounds of Deerbolt, dedicated to airmen and women who died in flying accidents in Teesdale and the Western Pennines.
This year's event, takes place on Wednesday. Lord Barnard will unveil memorials, and there will also be less serious events.
At 12.30pm, the Barnard Castle School Swing Band will perform a concert. The RAF mountain rescue and careers services will also be at the event.
