FUN-loving people in South Bank are gearing up for the neighbourhood's Multicultural Carnival to be held on August 19.
They are being encouraged to make the millennium carnival, with a theme of Alice in Wonderland, the best ever.
Charities, voluntary organisations, schools and local businesses are all preparing to boost the South Bank community spirit. Prizes including best decorative or comical float, most comical costume, best local business float and the best turnout of a voluntary group or organisation are on offer for those wishing to take part in the parade.
The parade starts on the Redcar Road East at 10.45am where, after the floats and fancy dress costumes have been judged, the procession will follow the newly elected Carnival Queen towards the Harcourt Road playing fields, where a variety of attractions will be on show until noon.
Alan Swales, from South Bank Community Forum, said: "Anyone who wants to make a difference is welcome to join in. You do not need a large lorry, all you need is an idea. You can come along with a tractor, car or even on foot."
Anyone who wants to join in can contact Mr Swales on (01642) 296000.
