AS thousands of excited Elton John fans get set for crocodile rock at Raby Castle next month, one important member of the audience has some catching up to do as regards the music of the rock legend.
The owner of the County Durham medieval fortress, Lord Barnard, has revealed that he has only heard a few of the Grammy award winner's songs.
The 11th Baron Barnard, who succeeded his late father to the title in 1964, said he had not heard very much of Sir Elton's music, but confirmed that he would be in the audience for the July 29 concert.
He said: "I've heard very little of his music but despite that I'm looking forward to this concert. Judging from the little I have listened to I feel sure I will enjoy the Raby Castle event very much."
The outdoor concert is part of the musician's nationwide tour of stately homes, and it will be the first time he has performed in the grounds of Raby Castle, near Staindrop, in County Durham.
But despite the high profile nature of the event, organisers have confirmed that tickets for the 14,000-seater concert are still on sale.
Tickets are available by calling 0870 4444005, priced at £40 and £30, with a few premium seats at £50 each.
