MORE than 100 children became builders for the day to get their school ready for the new term.
Branksome Comprehensive School, in Darlington, is undergoing refurbishment.
As part of the school's induction programme for pupils starting at the school in September, 120 children were yesterday employed to work as architects, bricklayers, joiners, electricians, decorators and labourers. Professional builders and lecturers from Darlington College of Technology supervised teams of ten and 11-year-olds, who tried their hand at designing a tower block, building walls, decorating, wiring light fittings and making flower boxes.
The day was the idea of Branksome's head of technology, Derek McCann.
