AN afternoon of sporting fun for primary school children is being held on Monday afternoon.
The festival of sport, at Kings Manor School, Middlesbrough, is being organised by pupils, with support from Youth Sport Trust, a charity set up to boost sporting provision for children in the UK.
The event is part of Ecclesiastical Insurance's TOP Link programme, designed to foster leadership skills and encourage secondary schools and colleges to develop links with primary schools.
About 100 children from primary schools in the area will attend, with teams led by King's Manor School students in a hockey tournament.
England under-21 star Laura Hughes, sports ambassador for The Hockey Association, will be on hand to offer expert coaching to the children.
Robert Glenn, one of the organisers said: "We've had a great time planning the festival and have learnt much about organising such an event."
