GUISBOROUGH'S Laurence Jackson School is celebrating a special achievement - four county championships from one year group.
Deputy head John Downs said the school had had this number of county champions previously from across the school but never from a single year group.
The Year Seven pupils produced the outstanding results at the Cleveland Schools Athletics championships at Clairville Stadium, Middlesbrough.
They were Scott Allison (100m), Jed Burke (1,500m), Katie Ditchburn (high jump) and Hayley McLean (hurdles).
The youngsters are part of a year group that excels in sport. Already this year the boys' A and B football teams have won the Redcar and Cleveland Leagues and the A team were runners-up in the cup competition. The boys rugby team were third in the Yorkshire rugby competition and won the Nunthorpe U12s tournament.
The girls have won the Redcar and Cleveland netball tournament and were third in the North East gymnastics competition
