Daniel Grufferty is certainly making his mark on the British autograss scene having recently won two more competitons to add to the titles he's already won, writes Craig Stoddart.
At, round two of the British Autograss Series, which took place at the West Midlands Open, Daniel won two of his three heats and finished runner-up in the other before going on to win the final.
His father Jeff, is naturally proud of his son's achievements and says the strength of competition is high. "There are around 50 clubs around the country and their were something like 47 competitors at the weekend so he did really well to reach the final, never mind win it" said Jeff.
Daniel, 15, who competes in a 1000cc, B-reg Mini, also won the British Junior Championships for his age group at Stratford three weeks ago. A member of the Yorkshire Dales club, Daniel says he is very pleased with his victories and said: "I'm the one everyone wants to beat. Whenever people talk about who's going to win I g-t mentioned".
The latest victories came on top of several titles bagged last year. The youngster from Hardraw, near Hawes, counts the British Autograss Series Junior Championship, Fastest Junior and on Grass and Nottingham Winter Series titles among last year's haul.
