THE largest summer attraction on Teesside gets under way tomorrow as the Teesside Steel Family Gala kicks off at Kirkleatham Showground.
The highlight is the float procession, including ten schools from Teesside which have teamed up with plants from the Corus Teesside site to design and build the floats.
The procession will start at 11.15am from Kirkleatham business park, Redcar, and make its way down Kirkleatham Lane, turning right along Corporation Road, right on to West Dyke Road, past Redcar Racecourse, and continuing along West Dyke Road before turning left into Larkswood Road, right into Plantation Road and into the gala site.
The biggest events at the site include the RAF Falcons Free Fall Parachute Team, a spitfire from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, Jaguar ground attack aircraft from RAF Lossiemouth and the Black Lanyards (4 Para) Free Fall Parachute Team.
Organisers said members of the public near Kirkleatham Showground should be warned that the display by the Jaguar Ground Attack aircraft will take place between 2.30pm and 2.45pm.
On the ground, there will be the debut appearance of Joseph's Amazing Camels, as well as the English School of Falconry, an escapologist, and the Royal Artillery Motor Cycle Display Team - The Flying Gunners.
Admission is £3 for adults and £1.50 for children and pensioners.
