A CONFERENCE aimed at giving young people a greater knowledge of business and industry and the process of wealth creation, has been held at a Darlington school.
Polam Hall School hosted the two-day conference, which was designed by Understanding Industry.
It involved speakers from Harbour and General, Gateshead Council, Galaxy Radio, HSBC, Ernst and Young, and Proctor and Gamble.
Headteacher Helen Hamilton said: "This is the fourth year we have invited Understanding Industry to Polam Hall School.
"It is a marvellous way for 16 to 19-year-olds to find out how interesting and exciting business and industry can be.
"I want to thank Understanding Industry and the participating speakers for a carefully planned conference.
"I am confident the conference will encourage the girls to take a fresh look at industry and the part it could play in their future careers."
Subjects covered ranged from production and design to innovation and marketing, personnel and finance and the students tried their hand at building bridges, marketing tea bags, designing music festivals and selecting candidates for job interviews.
