YOUNGSTERS picked up the gauntlet to tackle a gruelling challenge to stretch their physical and mental skills.
Teams of ten students from schools across the North-East took part in the Green Howards Museum Inter-Schools Adventurous Sports Challenge.
The 14 teams gathered at Richmond Castle, in North Yorkshire, to tackle six different tests, including a mountain bike obstacle course, sliding along a rope stretched from a 50ft tower and solving problems using planks, ropes and drums.
The challenge also included a treasure hunt in the Green Howards Regimental Museum in the town.
