TWO intrepid cyclists have completed almost 1,000 miles in ten days to help buy musical instruments.
Duncan Harper and Chris Cafling pedalled from Land's End to John O'Groats in aid of Thirsk and District Royal British Legion Band.
The band hopes to raise £4,000 to provide new members with instruments and musical training.
Duncan, of Savenfield Road, Thirsk, said: "I used to play the tenor horn with the band and I want to help others get as much enjoyment from it as I did.
"I've been a keen cyclist for eight years so our cycling trip was the perfect way for Chris and me to support the appeal."
Band founder-member Libby Rowley-Bell said: "All the band members are very grateful - and impressed by their incredible achievement.
"We need extra funds because we have welcomed seven new members in this year already and the band always provides players with instruments and helps them to develop their musical skills."
Proceeds from the cycle trek have already topped £500, with money still coming in.
The band performs at Thirsk Town Hall tonight, from 7.30pm, as part of the Thirsk Festival.
