A SEX beast was jailed for six years yesterday after he dragged a seven-year-old girl into a field and tried to rape her.

David Taylor, 37, had drunk ten litres of cider on top of drugs, said prosecutor Dan Cordey.

Taylor dragged the terrified girl into fields near St Luke's Hospital in Middlesbrough, where he tore off her clothes.

But she bit and scratched him until she was able to escape, Teesside Crown Court heard.

Gordon Harker, a hospital security guard, heard her screams, wrapped her in his jacket and carried her to nurses.

Taylor, of Kensington Road, Middlesbrough, pleaded guilty to the March 7 attempted rape.

Judge Peter Fox QC told Taylor: "The girl will have to live with the experience for the rest of her life."
