A MAN was repeatedly knifed as he walked to court to appear on charges alleging members of his family were operating a drugs ring.
Darren Horrigan, 21, was attacked at lunchtime in a street in Middlesbrough, Teesside, and he was stabbed three times in the neck and back, and also in the face.
Defence barrister Philip Crayton, told Teesside Crown Court the attack on Mr Horrigan, of Parliament Road, Middlesbrough, appeared to be a street robbery. He underwent emergency surgery in hospital.
Judge Peter Bowers granted bail to him and his parents, Gerard Horrigan, 40, and Christine, 43, also of Parliament Road, uncle Patrick, 49, of Crescent Road, Middlesbrough, sister Donna Marie, 24, and her boyfriend Craig Woodier, 22, of Leven Street, Middlesbrough.
The family faces a two-week trial charged with supplying and possessing heroin, amphetamine sulphates and cannabis resin between September and December last year
