CHILDREN hope a stitch in time for the millennium year has helped create an historical artefact for their school.
Pupils at Parkside Comprehensive, Willington, have created a three metre by four metre millennium banner, which they hope will remain in school long after they have left.
Most students stitched their names around ten panels representing subjects taught at the comprehensive.
The project began last June when a design competition was run and now the masterpiece is finished.
Teacher Christine Arthington said: "We thought it would be a nice way of keeping a record of everyone at the school at the millennium.
"Once the first panel was finished we realised it was going to be really good. It's pretty spectacular."
