AFTER beating a Sicilian to defend his world championship title last week, County Durham's own world junior kick boxing champion could now face a Russian.
Lanchester lad Craig Richardson, 15, made his first defence of the championship against Manuel Russo, 16, at Stanley Central Workingmen's Club last week.
Up to 300 people saw him beat the young Sicilian. Now the world organising body is considering matching him with a Russian as part of a big bill of entertainment at Consett Sports Centre in October.
But for now Craig's father, John Richardson, was just pleased to see his son win again. He said: "We were really proud of him. It was a hard fight which went all the way before Craig won on points."
Organisers of the October fight bill are looking for sponsors. If you can help call (01207) 280427.
