THE world's largest charitable hospital ship is docked in the region this month.
Anastasis, the flagship of the international charity Mercy Ships, is at Newcastle's Spillers Wharf as part of her millennium tour.
It has been in Africa for 21 months, but will be on the Tyne until July 11.
In addition to acting as a floating hospital, Anastasis acts as a base for health and dental care ashore, as well as construction, community development, water and sanitation projects.
It will be open for public tours as well as hosting receptions on board.
