A BRIDEGROOM is hoping his plans to travel in a rubbish skip to his wedding will not scare off his fiancee.
Soldier Robert Hill, 23, believes his wife-to-be Joanne Liddle, 29, will bury her embarrassment when he arrives with his mates in the bright yellow iron skip on the back of a lorry.
Mr Hill, of Winchester Walk, Hartlepool, said the strange idea was a family tradition. He travelled with his uncle to his wedding in a skip.
The Green Howards soldier said he spent most of his life travelling in strange vehicles, such as tanks and armoured carriers, so an industrial skip was not that different.
He had been assured the skip will be newly painted and cleaned.
Miss Liddle, of Middleton Road, Hartlepool, is resigned to the idea - but she will use conventional transport to get to St Oswald's Church, Hartlepool, in August.
