A ROCK star has come to the rescue of a little girl who is "allergic to life".
Brianie Copeland has to spend every moment of her day wrapped in bandages because of a rare illness.
The plight of the four-year-old has touched the heart of German rocker Nena, who had a massive worldwide hit in 1984 with 99 Red Balloons.
Her daughter suffered the same combination of allergies that blights Brianie's life.
The youngster, from Edmondsley, County Durham, is a prisoner in her own home as exposure to the outside world leaves her with blistered skin and crippling rashes.
She suffers violent react-ions to foods, cleaning agents, dust, strong light, heat, man-made fibres and even the grass on her parents' lawn.
Now Nena - real name Gabriela Kerner - has contacted doctor's treating Brianie to offer her help, after seeing an article about her battle on German TV.
Brianie's mum Pamela, 26, said: "I couldn't believe it when the phone went and the doctor said Nena wanted to help Brianie. This is just so amazing, I don't know how we can thank her enough for what she is doing."
Durham's Dryburn Hospital have told the family there are no treatments available on the NHS that Brianie has not already tried.
