TEAMS of young sports stars are preparing to compete in the inaugural Redcar and Cleveland junior volleyball competition.
More than 200 youngsters are expected to take part in the beach volleyball contest on Saturday, July 15.
Teams of four will compete in seven age categories on the beach at Redcar, between Leo's pub and the Regent cinema, from 10am until 3pm.
The tournament is organised by Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, in conjunction with the Tees Valley Volleyball Association.
The council is also running volleyball coaching on the beach as part of its summer holiday activity programme on Friday, August 18, and Wednesday, August 23, both from midday until 2pm. Entry is £2
