DRIVERS have been warned to expect delays until the end of the week at one of south Durham's busiest road junctions.
Traffic lights at Cavern Gate, at the bottom of Woodhouse Lane, in Bishop Auckland, have been out of action since an accident destroyed the control box last Friday.
Durham County Council said yesterday that temporary lights installed soon after the smash would probably be needed until at least Friday evening.
A spokeswoman said: "We are warning motorists to expect slight delays because of the four-way operation of the temporary lights.
"Parts needed for a new control box come from different suppliers, and that is why it has taken some time.
"We are doing everything we can to get permanent lights operating as quickly as possible.
