Darlington: Manager David Hodgson will remind his players of the standards he expects when they report back for pre-season training today.
Quakers start their pre-season work as favourites for the Third Division title and Hodgson says: "The players have got to get back to the standards they set last season.
"If anything, they have to be even better because we didn't make promotion in the end.
"Losing out on promotion was a massive blow but we'll survive and build on it.
"I still believe we can get out of this division with the players we've got and by adding one or two more who can bring something extra to the club."
Hodgson will be having a look at several triallists over the next few days, including Dutch striker Tom Kaak, from Heracles, who scored six in a trial game for Quakers last season. Quakers' first friendly is at Billingham Town next Saturday afternoon. Scarborough have expressed an interest in signing Darlington midfielder Glenn Naylor, who is out of contract.
Naylor was injured for the early months of last season, and forced his way back into the side, scoring three times in the last eight league games.
Quakers have appointed Peter Ellis as their new commercial manager, with Victoria Reynolds as his assistant. Ellis has been associated with the club for several years.
Darlington striker Peter Duffield has completed his move to York City.
