NORTH-EAST farmers who unknowingly planted GM-contaminated oilseed rape are to receive £337 for each affected hectare of crop, the seed company involved announced yesterday.
And some farmers in the region could receive a further 9.5 per cent of that amount in recognition of their larger yields. The announcement was made by seed company Advanta after intensive talks with the National Farmers' Union, which welcomed the payments
