Ralph Walton Cup
South Hetton will meet Bill Quay in the final of the Ralph Walton Cup. South Hetton had one run to spare in their semi-final win at Peterlee after they totalled 83 which included 31 not out by Keith Stewart.
Peterlee's Mick Oliver was in good form and in ten overs he captured six for 34 while David Watts took four for 47 in ten overs.
In reply, Peterlee were always in with a chance and Oliver top scored with 29 but at stumps the home side were stranded at 82 for six with half the wickets falling to Ray Bainbridge for 45 runs in ten overs.
Bill Quay overtook Castle Eden's formidable target of 130 with two wickets in hand. John Chamberlain was their match winner and his valuable innings of 33 included five boundaries and a six while Castle Eden's Mick Cuthbert almost won the match for his team, in ten overs he claimed six for 51.
Castle Eden posted 129 for seven which included 64 by Gary McGee, who recorded one six and nine fours. Elliott scored four boundaries in 36 while Bill Quay's Ian Gutteridge sent down six overs in taking four for 48.
George Mann Cup
The semi-finals of the competition, sponsored by Weardale Steel, will begin on Monday, the first tie between Tow Law Black Horse or Shildon Timothy Hackworth v Weardale Steel or Eldon Lane Club. July 11, Wolsingham Mill Race or Bishop Auckland King James v Crook Golden Fleece or Wolsingham All Stars. The final will be played at Wolsingham School at 2.00pm on July 16.
Durham Senior League U-17
Ian Blevins, with an innings of 46, and John Atkinson, 38, enabled Horden to total 145 for two at home to South Shields.
The Wood Terrace visitors made 77 all out as Blevins picked up three wickets for 11 and Carl Watson had two for 23.
Graeme Onions, with 29 not out, steered Gateshead Fell to a six-wicket victory at home to Philadelphia. John Grant, who recently took four wickets for Philadelphia's first team at Sacriston, returned figures of two for 16 in six overs and Robert Day had two for 40 from 5.4 overs. Earlier, Day carried his bat for 15 and Mark Moore top-scored with 17 in Philadelphia's total of 55 for three compiled from 20 overs.
Marshall, 20 not out, Elliott (18) and Carty (16no) enabled Whitburn to overtake Felling's 56 all out with nine wickets in hand. Peter Vinton top-performed with 20 runs for Felling but the star of the night was Whitburn's Ian Elliott whose 5.5 overs produced figures of six wickets for 14 runs.
Brian Pods and Jim Allenby, regulars in Durham City's first team, both struck half centuries in their side's match-winning total of 168 for six at home to Sunderland, for whom Hodgson took two for 27 and Harrison had identical figures to his colleague.
In reply, Sunderland were all out for 65 with Pods taking two for six from four overs and Graeme Wright three for six in his two overs spell.
Durham Senior League U-15
Carl Watson was in unstoppable form when Horden hosted Chester-le-Street. The youngster hit ten sixes and 16 boundaries in 147 compiled from only 19.4 overs and Horden reached 235 for four in 20 overs. Tony Murphy gave support with 45 and Adam Dixon made 23 but the game belonged to Watson.
Replying, Chester-le-Street were pegged to 102 for six, which included 26 by Morrison and for Horden, Ryan Watson captured three wickets for 23 in three overs.
Boldon also passed three figures when they met South Shields. Gamble, with 34, and Lamb (62) enabled Boldon to reach 135 for four before South Shields were bowled out for 57 as Roy took three wickets for 27 runs.
An undefeated 32 by Carty featured in Whitburn's 23-run win over Sunderland while Burnmoor had 13 runs to spare at Philadelphia. Stuart Haywood struck four boundaries in 48 when Burnmoor totalled 108 for four. Two of the four wickets fell to Brian Telfer for 28 runs in five overs.
Despite a fine innings of 62 by William Orchin, who hit one six and seven fours, and an unbeaten 21 from David Parker, Philadelphia managed just 75 for two.
Jonathon Foster hit two fours in 34 not out when Gateshead Fell overtook Durham City's 59 for five for the loss of just one wicket. Amin Dhinsa and James Costello both captured two cheap wickets in the Gateshead Fell attack.
Durham Senior League
Philadelphia strengthened their position at the top of the Third Division with an outstanding four-wicket victory at Chester-le-Street, who looked to be in a defendable position at the halfway stage after they reached 130 for six, which included a half century by John Turnbull. Phili's match winner was John Pratt, who carried his bat for 69 in a total of 132 for six.
On a night of high scores, Burnmoor ended with 135 for four, which included 44 by Ian Hope. He was overshadowed, however, by Brown, whose 76 won the match for Seaham Harbour, for whom earlier Lorraines had picked up three wickets for only 26 runs.
Former Durham county captain Brian Lander is still playing for Durham City, but despite claiming three wickets for 20 his side lost by four wickets on their visit to Horden. Hemingway, with three for 16, and Brett, who returned figures of three for 17, restricted Durham City to 91 all out, a target which Horden met with four wickets intact.
Eppleton won without losing a wicket when they met Gateshead Fell. Faced with a target of 107 they romped to victory through Paul Dawson, with an unbeaten 58 and George Smith (42no). When Gateshead Fell batted first and ended on 106 for nine most of their runs came from McCarthy with 65, while for Eppleton, Bainbridge was in great form with the ball, claiming six wickets for just 21 runs.
Binns, 51 not out, led South Shields to a five-wicket victory against Boldon, whose 130 for two included an undefeated 66 by Barden.
Graeme Anderson contributed 42 to Whitburn's 118 for six and for Sunderland, Michael Smith took two for 26 and Les Smith three for 39. In response, Sunderland won when they posted 121 for four thanks mainly to the efforts of Peter Fenwick with a top-scoring 65.
Boddington's Durham Coast League U-15
SEAHAM Park reached 133 for six against Ryhope with Singh (36no), Andy Robinson (34no) and Stephen Sutherland (34) all in good form. Ryhope responded with only 47 for six as David Morton took two for nine and Michael McGhinn two for 11.
Peterlee totalled 119 for one against Marsden who replied with 84 for five. Maddison top-scored with 61 and Wilson struck 45 in the Peterlee innings.
Chris Brown was top scorer with 22 not out in Boldon CA's 49 for five, a total which visitors Dawdon overtook for the loss of just six wickets when Consett remained undefeated with 31.
Despite scoring only 79 for eight, Murton still defeated Castle Eden by 16 runs. Replying, the home team were pegged to 63 for seven, which included a top-scoring 21 by Carl Kelly, while for Murton, Elliott returned three for nine from four overs and Watson had two for eight from two overs.
At Silksworth, Easington ended on 84 for seven with most of their runs coming from Ben McLean with 22. Burnett had the excellent figures of three for four from two overs and Middlemiss returned two for 24 in his four overs spell and when Silksworth replied they won losing just four wickets as Howell carried his bat for 51. Hunt, with two for eight from three overs, was the pick of the Easington attack.
Foster's Tyneside Junior League Cup
A Plain will meet Greenside in the final of the U-18 League Cup.
Plain had nine wickets to spare when they hosted Sacriston who were restricted to just 91 for five before Graeme Carr carried his bat for an excellent 50 not out and David Newstead remained unbeaten on 28.
The other semi-final tie produced almost 250 runs in 40 overs.
Batting first, Whickham appeared to have made a match-winning 122 for six in their allotted 20 overs.
May, with an unbeaten 38, and Chris Davidson, 36, were the main contributors, while for Greenside, Matty Turnbull had figures of four for 26 in five overs. He was assisted by Michael Cairns, with one for 32 from five overs, and Mark Rowell, whose one wicket cost 36 runs as he also bowled the maximum five overs.
Greenside were undeterred by the big target and won losing just three wickets. Their match-winner was Michael Cairns, whose undefeated 61 included two sixes and six boundaries. Tom Morley gave him excellent support with one four and two sixes in 29 not out as the pair shared a productive unbroken partnership for the fourth wicket. Cree, with two wickets for 38 runs in 4.3 overs, was the most productive of the Whickham bowlers.
Darlington Building Society NYSD League
Stokesley will play Nunthorpe in the final of the Hornaby Cup after they reached a formidable 145 for six at home to Billingham Synthonia with Phil Kendrew carrying his bat for 70. David Campbell gave support with 21 and so did Graeme Goodall, whose 29 was a valuable contribution.
In reply, Synthonia managed 102 for nine from their 25 overs. Top scorer was Burgun with 24 while for Stokesley James Umpleby had three for four and Freddie Parkes three for 19.
Despite scoring 128 for eight in 25 overs, Barnard Castle lost out to Nunthorpe who romped to victory in only 18.3 overs. Richard Robertson was the match-winning with an undefeated 61 while David Wass added 34 and Jim Thornton 19 not out. Batting first, Barnard Castle also found runs easy with Ian Dent making 54 while Nunthorpe's James Petch took two for 17 and Jeff Watson three for 25.
