YOUNGSTERS at a Guisborough school are the tops.
Four in the same year group at Laurence Jackson school won a county title each at Cleveland Schools Athletics Championships at the Clairville Stadium in Middlesbrough.
The Year 7 pupils who produced the outstanding results are Scott Allison (100m), Jed Burke (1500m), Katie Ditchburn (high jump) and Hayley McLean (hurdles).
The deputy head, Mr John Downs, said it was not the first time the school had notched up that number of county champions, but it had never before happened in one year group.
"This is something unique, and we are very proud of them," he said.
The four are part of a year group which excels in sport. Already this year, the boys' A and B football teams have won the Redcar and Cleveland leagues and the A team were runners-up in the cup competition.
The boys' rugby team came third in the Yorkshire Rugby contest and won the Nunthorpe under-12s' tournament.
Not to be outdone, the girls won Redcar and Cleveland netball tournament and came third in the North-East gymnastics competition.
