NORTH-East historian and author Harry Moses is trying to recruit an army of volunteers who helped win the Second World War.
Harry, from Aycliffe Village, is looking for civilians who contributed to the war effort so their memories can be recorded and form part of the newly refurbished Durham Light Infantry building.
He is keen to speak to people from County Durham who were evacuees, Bevan Boys, Royal Ordnance workers, air raid wardens, auxiliary firefighters, members of the Home Guard or Land Army, or anyone who helped the war effort as a civilian.
Harry said: "I'm having difficulty finding people who may be scattered all over the county now.
"I'm looking for ordinary folk who did something in the war, but not on the military side.
"Their memories will be featured in the civilian part of the museum where visitors can press a button and hear them talk about an air raid, food rationing, or working in an armaments factory."
Any civilian who can provide Harry with memories should contact him through the Durham Light Infantry Office, Elvet Waterside, Durham, on 0191-386 5496.
