YOUNGSTERS at Polam Hall School were given a pampering when they visited the Saks hair and beauty salon to collect sports day prizes.
The salon, in Blackwellgate, sponsored the trophies given at the school sports day.
The first, second and third prizewinners in each event were presented with vouchers for complimentary cuts and finishes at Saks.
Rachel Davies, 14, was one of the first in the chair. She won the school's Victrix Ludorum Cup for gaining most points in the senior section, after competing in the long jump, 100 metres and hurdles.
Helen Hamilton, headteacher, said: "This is the first time our sports day has been sponsored, linking the school with local business.
"This type of initiative is one of the ways in which we can involve business with the school, and we look forward to a continuing partnership with Saks."
Peter Lord, manager of the Darlington salon, said: "Polam Hall pupils are the businesswomen of tomorrow, and we are very pleased to be able to support the school in this way.
