CHILDREN at a North-East school could hardly contain their delight when a new Volkswagen Beetle pulled up at their gates.
Benfield Volkswagen offered to show the car to year six children at St Cuthbert's Primary School, Newcastle, as part of a school project.
The youngsters were exploring the Internet and Alexander Lipinsky decided to look for websites about his favourite car.
While he did not have any luck with the Beetle, he did find a site for the Benfield Volkswagen dealership.
Desperate to find out more, Alexander wrote to the dealership.
Doug Watson, a sales executive there, saw the letter and decided to take the real thing to the school to show year six.
Class teacher Jennifer Goff said children had enjoyed the visit.
It was really kind of Doug to bring the car to the school, the children were all very excited," she said.
"We had a great afternoon learning more about the Beetle and how cars work."
Mr Watson said: "The kids were great.
"They were full of questions and I've never seen so many children in one car!"
