A CRISIS centre set up to help flood victims is winding down its furniture collection service because it has more than it needs at the moment.
So many donations have been made to the centre at the Wear Valley Volunteer Development Agency, in Crook, that no more will be accepted after Friday.
Smaller items such as bedding, crockery and general household equipment can still be left at drop-off points at Bishop Auckland Town Hall, Crook Civic Centre and the agency's office at Crook Business Centre.
Agency manager Michele Armstrong said the team coordinating aid for victims had been overwhelmed with the support given by businesses and individuals, including readers of The Northern Echo.
She said: "Many residents have yet to be rehoused and it may be necessary to resurrect the appeal for furniture in the future.
