OWNERS of much-loved dogs did their bit to help less fortunate owners yesterday - and managed to have fun at the same time.
Hundreds of dog lovers attended the Sadberge Dog Show, which was held at the National Canine Defence League kennels in the village, near Darlington.
Whether they were there to participate in the serious and not-so-serious dog show competitions, or were merely taking the opportunity of having a good time, they all knew they had done their bit to help raise an estimated £2,000-plus for the charity.
As well as the better established dog competitions at the show, there was a chance to see the dogs entered in the waggiest tail and best trick categories. Many also enjoyed watching the dogs try their skill on the ability course set up for the day.
"It was a brilliant day once again," said centre manager Catherine Gillie. "It has got better and better every year since we started in 1994, and it is lovely to see people coming who have had dogs from us, or who help us. I would just like to thank everybody who was involved."
