A SIX-week programme of fun has been lined up for youngsters on a Durham estate during the school holidays.
Eight to 16-year-olds on the Sherburn Road Estate will be able to enjoy football, netball, orienteering, arts and crafts, thanks to funding from the area's regeneration initiative.
The programme will start on Monday with a playscheme at the Laurel Avenue Community Centre, which will be held between 10am and 12.30pm, and from 1pm to 3.30pm.
The sporting activities will be run from Monday, August 7 to Friday, August 18. Admission is free.
A playscheme will be run at Gilesgate Comprehensive Community School from Monday, August 21 to Friday, September 1 daily, between 10am and 12.30pm, and between 1pm and 3.30pm.
The sessions cost £1.50 per child, but there are concessions for other children in the same family.
A swimming programme will be held at Durham Baths for anyone aged eight to 25 who wants to learn how to swim.
The programme will be held from Monday to Friday. Last year, 12 youngsters learned to swim on the programme.
Children North-East is also running a play scheme that will feature family trips and trips for children only. It is also planning to hold a series of creative activity days.
