THE North-East's newest Cub pack has invested 36 youngsters in six weeks.
The 1st Waldridge Fell Cubs and Beavers, at Chester-le-Street, one of the few County Durham groups to enrol girls, invested the 22 Beavers and 14 Cubs at a ceremony at the weekend.
Waldridge assistant leader Alan Purvis said: "We knew there was a need in the area for a Cub pack, but we never thought for one minute that we would be so successful so quickly.
"We hear so much about youngsters just wanting to watch the telly or play computer games but this is not really true.
"They just need somebody to organise some activities for them."
The 1st Waldridge is continuing to recruit members and the leaders are expecting to be kept busy over the summer school holiday, planning for the youngsters' return.
